I’ve been thinking about this post for a while now and finally decided to just open my laptop and begin typing, hoping that I can be informative and persuasive at the same time. This will most likely be one of the most difficult for me, because this is a difficult topic to talk about without making some assumptions as to how you make decisions on whom to believe, and most importantly, what you will ultimately decide is the truth. Since there is only one truth, it’s important that we try to find out what that is and it begins with… who are you going to believe? There will always be different opinions and feelings about that truth, but it’s still just one truth.
I have often stated my perspective on truth and it’s right there on this website’s Homepage: “In all things, always seeking the Truth, believing the Truth, and promoting the Truth.” That’s a worthy desire, finding the truth; but how do we do that?
I don’t think it takes Sociology or Psychology training to realize that the greatest contributing factor to what, and who, we believe are our own initial personal biases. We tend to believe those with whom we agree. If it reinforces one of those personal biases, we’ll probably say that they are being truthful. On the other hand, the converse is also true… that if we don’t agree with that person or source, it must be false! I hope you can see how easy it is to believe something that isn’t the truth!
Here is where I’m going to share my heart and how I seek and determine the truth.
I start with the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I daily pray for discernment and that God would give me the wisdom to sort ‘fact from fiction’. As for how that happens in practicality, I think He guides me with direction about whom I should believe.
Every one of you my friends knows by now that my ‘labels’ are Christian, Conservative, Republican, Patriot, proud American, and Trump supporter. You also probably know that I get my news from Conservative news outlets like Fox News, Newsmax, and others, while abhorring the Mainstream Media and generally Liberal news outlets like CNN and MSNow.
Why do I believe these and not the others? Here is the big generalization: I believe these sources because they have shown themselves to be believable. A generalization, I acknowledge, and there have been times when my sources haven’t been truthful, but in the very, very few times they haven’t been, it’s almost always not done with malice and they quickly correct their reporting. This doesn’t apply only to news organizations, but to individuals… especially to individuals! Looking back could you believe your parents? Teachers? Probably, because they were always truthful with you. They proved themselves to be trustworthy. If a person was always misleading you, even in a teasing manner, it wouldn’t be long before you stopped believing anything they said. They had proven themselves to be unbelievable.
Bring this into present-day and ask yourself, who has proven themselves to be believable? I’ll start with Fox News. About a year ago I shared why I believe Fox News, and the primary reason is the way they have proven themselves to be believable, and the way they have been truthful. They not only prove themselves to be believable, but the other media as unbelievable because they show it to you. For example, they don’t tell you what Trump said regarding such-and-such, they show you the video of him saying it. The other networks just tell you Trump said ‘this’ without showing you any of him actually saying it. And inevitably, he never said what they said he said! Time after time the Liberal, Mainstream media has proven themselves untrustworthy while Fox has proven themselves to be trustworthy.
I could go on for days with examples of individuals on the Left lying, not being truthful. I’ll use just a couple of examples, the first being the hundreds of lies that have been about Donald Trump. Everything from the Russia Hoax, to his impeachments, to January 6th, and all the ‘lawfare’ against him the four years he was between terms. Every subsequent lie adds to that moniker of them being untrustworthy. Why would you believe anything that person would say as the truth if they haven’t done so in the past?!
The other specific example I’ll use is the current issue of illegal immigration and ICE. The Left is simply not being truthful. They claim these are ‘mostly peaceful’ protests while we can see with our own eyes the violence and law enforcement is being harassed and even attacked. For four years the Biden Administration told us the border was closed. They told us that almost weekly while we were seeing with our own eyes that millions were pouring into our Country unimpeded. I didn’t believe Biden and those in his Administration because they frequently lied to us. I believe President Trump and his Administration because they are have shown that they tell us the truth.
One last example has to do with not only news outlets but individuals, specifically Democrats, who covered up (a fancy way of saying lied about) Joe Biden’s mental acuity. Nothing demonstrates what I’m trying to say than this. Even when he was a candidate, during the Covid pandemic, he showing signs of mental decline. This decline was so obvious, even prior to him becoming President, yet the Democrats were constantly telling us he was the sharpest and most qualified person that had ever run. (They ignored the fact that he had run for President twice before and was forced to drop out because of… plagiarism. Lying, representing something by someone else as his own!) For the entire four years of his Presidency we were witness to a steady decline in his mental acuity. All we had to do was look, and see, and accept that as a fact as all the Democrats said nothing was wrong. The giant lie finally caught up to Biden at his disastrous debate performance, leading to his eventual withdrawal from the 2024 election. I’ll also remind you the even after the obvious, Vice President Kamala Harris, most all the Democrats, and the Liberal Media, continued to lie us; they continued to lie to ALL of us. Not to just Republicans but to you, my Democrat friends as well. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… I honestly wonder if the Democrats thought they could deceive us. If they did, they were thinking we all were just stupid.
If you wish to categorize me as a ‘homer’, a person who is a blind follower of President Trump and the Right, it’s your prerogative to do so. I hope that you won’t, not because it will hurt my feelings but because I would have failed in expressing why I believe what I do and how I always try to find the truth, and when I do, to believe it, and then promote that truth. I challenge you to do the same, beginning with praying for God’s guidance and His blessing of wisdom and the gift of discernment.
May you be blessed today!

Well written and poignant. You speak the ‘truth’ ; I wish more people would seek, pray, and affirm beliefs instead of simply accepting what is delivered through the media.
I don’t know why, but it seems like the truth is difficult to accept… and that’s IF it can even be found.
I read a book back in the early 90’s by Bernard Goldberg about media bias that changed my perspective about the “good old evening news.” I have tried to watch the “other side” to get a balance but they never convince me, as you say, with any credible proof of truth. Trying to logically believe the other side is impossible because it never lines up correctly in the mind. Our side sometimes exaggerates issues in their fervor, but they are coming from a core of realistic, backed-up info that has stayed solid, even over time. You are being measured, prayerful, and fair in your observations & search for the truth so keep it up!
Thanks, Kary, I try. Thank you for letting me know I’m not being biased and jaundiced. My sole goal is to find and promote truth… wherever I can find it and wherever it leads.
Well said. When it comes to truth, the truth is the left does not like America. They say all the time we are racist, oppressive and only for the rich. When that is your starting point, and you believe it, it is hard to tell the truth. We are the most diverse nation on earth. Very few countries have the number of immigrants that we have and funny how such racist country but they all want to come here. Their version of oppressive is if you stop anyone from doing what they want to do you are oppressive. So we end up with outlandish situations like gender surgery. We have a lot of rich people in this country because we have a system allows people to have some control of their dreams, which in many cases leads to wealth. And this country has the largest middle class in the world. And no other country gives as much foreign aid away as we do. Europe with all of their social programs have lived off the security of the US for decades. We have bailed them out twice.
But the truth is in the pudding. The only program that improved under Biden was sexual confusion. Our immigration system was destroyed. Our military was a paper tiger. Our fraud was rampant as we are now finding out. Our election system is seriously flawed which will be the downfall of this country. They made it much harder for the lower class to get ahead by importing so much cheap labor, They showed how they want to control everything with COVID, with making some many threats about not following them instead of science. Politicians threatened doctors with their practice if they had a different opinion on treatment.
J6 should if never happened like it did. But now it is becoming obvious that most likely that election was stolen. That may be worth a revolution. But the law fare that followed is un American. We find out our whole legal system was highly abused to cover it all up.
So say again why I should have any faith or desire to negotiate with the left. We are in this position because the old Republicans let us get here. It should have been stopped years ago but they were too comfortable with their positions in government and did not take a stand. If it wasn’t for Trump, the Republican Party would have already been wiped out.
Wow, Gary, what a well-reasoned comment. Thank you for taking the time to not only read my post but to think about it and respond! Of course, I think you’re spot on because I agree with you (!) so I guess I’m proving my own point. If you don’t mind would let me use your comments, or maybe some of them, in my next post? I would use them anonymously but I think your perspective needs to be shared. Again, thank you! I hope you have a great week.
