A Dream Come True!

I’m ready to finally begin sharing about a project that has been a LONG time in coming. I haven’t shared until now for a variety of reasons, only one of which was the transition of my website so that could easily blog about this build and could share a number of photos in a gallery style setting… things that were not possible with my previous hosting company. I will try to catch you up by briefly looking back to the very beginning and bringing you along on this journey that has resulted in the current photo you see here.

To say that I have been blessed in the construction of this workshop seems too trivial of a description. From the concept, to the plans, to the permitting, to the construction, I feel that God has blessed my work and I will soon have a workshop of my dreams. It might seem simple and unfinished to some, but to me, this represents something so spectacular to me that I have affectionately given it a name. I’m calling this the Taj Mashop!

You will find photos on the Photo Gallery I page here on the website.

This journey of pursuing my dream began back in April of last year (2025) with my submission to our HOA for approval of a workshop that I wanted to build in my backyard. It was for a free-standing building, which I knew was NOT permitted by our Covenants & Restrictions, so after a brief review by the Architectural Review Board (ARB) I pulled the request and sought the assistance of friend and excellent architect, Brian Boatright, for a building that was attached to the house as an addition, which WAS allowed by the HOA. I gained that approval in June and thus officially began this journey.

I broke ground in September with KCS Concrete company doing the site prep and pouring the slab for me. Work has steadily proceeded up to this point where I am about to call for my Framing and Electrical inspections.

It’s my plan to break this build up into much smaller parts and milestones and blog posts for those of you who are really interested in how this dream has become a reality… filling in the details that took place between then and now. Thank you for reading so far; keep checking back here.

I keep, for the lack of a better description, a ‘subscription’ list where I e-mail you whenever I add a post. I always address these e-mails using Blind Copy so that your contact information always stays private. Currently, the only way I’m able to notify you of a new post is via Facebook; I’ll continue to do that. If you would like to ‘subscribe’ you may let me know by using the Comment box on the blog page.
